The CO2 emissions in the life cycle of an electric car can be significantly reduced by using electricity from renewable energies for charging. Therefore, with the Green Charging service, we enable customers to charge green at the more than 200,000 public Mercedes me Charge* charging points in Europe. To this end, the charging process is subsequently greened by using high-quality origin information to ensure that the same amount of electricity from renewable energy sources is fed into the grid for all charging volumes flowing via Mercedes me Charge.

* The use of the "Mercedes me Charge" service requires a separate charging contract with a selected third-party provider that handles payment and billing of the charging processes. The use of Mercedes me connect services requires a personal Mercedes me ID and agreement to the Terms of Use for Mercedes me connect services.

Sometimes here, sometimes there, actually everywhere. With Mercedes-EQ, you don't have to search long for the next charging option for your new EQS SUV. Mercedes me Charge* gives you easy access to public charging points from various providers. Or charge at home in comfort at your Mercedes-Benz wallbox.

    Charging at home

Side view of the EQS SUV during a charging process, connected to a Mercedes-Benz wallbox.

With the Mercedes-Benz wallbox, the intelligent and networked charging station comes to your home. With our powerful AC charging system, you can charge your EQS SUV with up to 22 kW (3-phase)*, many times faster than at a household socket. With the Mercedes-Benz wallbox, you can also control and view the charging processes via the Mercedes me App**. The installation of the wallbox, subject to a charge, can be carried out by, among others, our own installation partner, who will be happy to answer all your questions on the subject of "charging at home".

    * 22 kW charging may require the appropriate optional equipment "AC charging system (AC charging 22 kW)" depending on the manufacturer and vehicle. The EQS SUV supports up to 11 kW as standard, optionally 22 kW.

** The wallbox contains the pre-installation for remote functions. The Mercedes me App, a personal Mercedes me ID and agreement to the Terms of Use for the Mercedes me connect services are required to use the remote functions of the Mercedes Benz wallbox.

    Charging while out and about

On the road, charge the new EQS SUV with Mercedes me Charge at public charging stations. While you go about your intended business calmly, your vehicle can charge at AC charging stations with a charging power of up to 11 kW (optionally up to 22 kW). On longer journeys, you can often use direct current (DC) fast charging stations, which can be found at many motorway service stations as well as in an increasing number of larger cities. You can also use the IONITY high-power charging network along all of Europe's major transport axes.

    Digital services

Angled rear view of the new EQS SUV.

Through the remote and navigation services*, we bundle many useful services that support everyday life as an electric vehicle user. For example, with the navigation with Electric Intelligence, you get corresponding range security and optimum route planning for necessary charging stops. A lot of information, such as the battery charge level or the remaining range, can also be called up easily while on the move using the Mercedes me app. This way, you always have the best information to hand and can relax, even if you have a longer journey ahead of you.

    * To use the Mercedes me connect services, you must create a Mercedes me ID and agree to the terms of use for the Mercedes me connect services. The services shown and their availability and functionalities depend in particular on the vehicle model, year of manufacture, selected optional equipment and country.

    EQ & A

Your questions about electric driving - and our answers.

      • Real electric range

Why is the real-world electric range often less than specified?

The electric range varies depending on individual driving behaviour and route profile as well as environmental conditions such as temperature and weather. You can drive electrically for longer if you use the ECO Assistant, the DYNAMIC SELECT driving programs and intelligent navigation to drive with foresight and make use of the recuperation options for energy recovery. So-called auxiliary consumers such as seat heating or air conditioning also have an influence on the range.

      • AC and DC charging technology

What is the difference between AC and DC charging technology?

Batteries of electric vehicles can only be charged with direct current (DC), however, "household sockets" and "high-voltage sockets" as well as the Mercedes-Benz wallbox and many public charging stations provide alternating current (AC). To make charging possible, vehicles are equipped with an on-board charger. This so-called "AC/DC converter" converts alternating current into the required direct current. Charging powers of 2.3 kW to 11 kW (optionally 22 kW) are possible - depending on the AC source. This way, the power available from the external power grid is utilised as fully as possible.

      • Mercedes-Benz Ecosystem

Can I map my everyday life with an electric vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz ecosystem?

Mercedes-Benz offers the right solution for every charging behaviour desired. For charging at home, the networked and intelligent Mercedes-Benz wallbox enables fast, safe and convenient charging with an output of up to 22kW*. You can use the wallbox's remote functions** to start and stop the charging process via the Mercedes me app. Thanks to the Mercedes me Charge*** digital service integrated into the Mercedes me app, charging in public is also a simple procedure. With this service, more than 95% of charging stations in Germany can be used with a one-time registration. Mercedes me Charge offers you up to four different options for authenticating yourself at the charging station: The Mercedes me App, MBUX, the charging card or also Plug & Charge****. Decide spontaneously which solution is best for you at any given moment.

        * In addition to the power supply, the AC charging power depends on the technology installed in the respective vehicle. Depending on the manufacturer and vehicle, the appropriate optional equipment will be required. The EQS SUV offers up to 11 kW as standard, optionally 22 kW.
** To use the remote functions of the Mercedes-Benz wallbox, the Mercedes me app, a personal Mercedes me ID and agreement to the Terms of Use for the Mercedes me connect services are required.
*** In order to be able to use the Mercedes me service "Mercedes me Charge", a separate charging contract with a selected third-party provider is required, via which payment and invoicing of the charging processes takes place.
The use of Mercedes me services requires a personal Mercedes me ID and agreement to the Terms of Use for Mercedes me services.
**** Plug & Charge is only available for certain vehicles, currently EQS, EQS SUV and EQE.
