Your most important questions about electric mobility.

EQ&A

Your most important questions about electric mobility.

    • Real electric range

Why is the real electric range often less than specified?

The electric range depends on the individual driving behaviour, the route profile and the environmental conditions. You can travel further on electric power if you use ECO Assist to drive with foresight and take advantage of the recuperation and/or gliding function. The use of seat heating or air conditioning also have an influence on the range.

    • AC and DC charging technology

What is the difference between the two charging technologies?

The batteries of electrified vehicles can basically only be charged with direct current (DC). However, all household power sockets, the Mercedes-Benz Wallbox charger and most public charging stations supply alternating current (AC), as do "high-voltage sockets". An on-board charger is installed in the vehicle - an AC/DC converter - which makes charging possible: it converts the alternating current into the required direct current. Depending on the AC source, charging powers of 2.3 kW to 11 kW are possible.

    • Environmental friendliness

Are electric cars really environmentally friendly?

The environmental friendliness of the vehicle depends strongly on your driving and charging behaviour, e.g. which electricity you charge with: Is it really "green" electricity that is used to charge your vehicle or a mixture of different energy sources? When you charge in Europe via Mercedes me Charge, Mercedes-Benz uses guarantees of origin to ensure that an equivalent amount of electricity from renewable energies is fed into the grid for the charging processes. In this way, you are already reducing your personal CO2 balance today and making a contribution to the energy transition.
Even in private households, a green electricity contract is often just a few clicks away.
