Building safe cars is one of our primary objectives. The process covers measures that help to minimise the consequences of an accident. In addition to well-known protective systems, such as airbags or the high-stability passenger cell, these measures address a range of technical innovations allied to the integrated safety philosophy.
In 1994, a set of "Guidelines for Rescue Services" was published, containing information on specific vehicle and safety functions and means of access. It covers the many new Mercedes-Benz vehicle models and safety innovations – everything from occupant restraint systems and the KEYLESS-GO access and drive authorisation system to new materials and fuel-cell/natural-gas drives.
