The SLS AMG is a revolutionary supercar. Its basic design has been completely reworked. The result? For the first time Mercedes-Benz and AMG have produced a vehicle with an aluminium chassis and body. This generates a significant weight saving over the traditional steel construction.

The new body shell is a 241 kg aluminium space frame. This exclusive construction combines intelligent lightweight design with outstanding rigidity, which allows for uncompromisingly dynamic handling. It goes without saying that the aluminium space frame meets all passive safety and body quality requirements specified for a new Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
