BlueEFFICIENCY measures

The BlueEFFICIENCY measures are comprehensive vehicle optimisations which help save fuel and ease the burden on the environment. The S-Class combines the most efficient engines with well-designed aerodynamic and energy management measures to keep fuel consumption to a minimum.


Efficiency technologies in the S-Class

The latest-generation CDI diesel engines combine irresistible performance characteristics with low consumption. Injection pressure has been increased, smoothness of operation enhanced and noise levels optimised – while reduced compression makes for lower emission levels.

Direct injection, downsizing, increased compression and turbocharging (for V8 engines) in this latest-generation petrol engines deliver outstanding torque, output and a reduction of noise levels. Innovative engine technology has significantly reduced emissions and fuel consumption compared with previous models.<br /><br />

(S 400 HYBRID: fuel consumption combined: 8.2–7.9 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 191–186 g/km; S 350 BlueTEC: fuel consumption combined: 6.4–6.2 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 168–164 g/km; S 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC: fuel consumption combined: 7.4–7.3 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 195–193 g/km)[2]
