4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive enables the vehicle to move off and accelerate powerfully – even on poor road surfaces and in adverse weather conditions. The 4MATIC is always active and requires no response time to intervene.

  • Enormous power: The 4MATIC makes conventional differential locks unnecessary. Automatic brake pulses improve traction on slippery roads and stability in critical situations.
  • Low weight: Thanks to a compact design, an intelligent choice of materials and high efficiency, there is hardly any weight increase compared with the rear-wheel drive model.
  • Supporting systems: 4MATIC all-wheel drive is supported by the Electronic Stability Program ESP® and the Electronic Traction System 4ETS. Spinning wheels are braked systematically and the drive torque is automatically distributed to the wheels with sufficient traction.
