The Czech transport company ICOM transport has just taken into service twelve Mercedes-Benz Intouro buses in their Euro VI-compliant version. This is the first major delivery of Euro VI-compliant buses to the Czech market. In future the twelve Intouro buses will carry passengers on regular service in central Bohemia. These buses, equipped with the latest technology, were acquired within the framework of the programme "Strengthening ecological means of transport in the region to minimise negative environmental effects, promote traffic safety and break down barriers in urban public transport". That's why the twelve Intouro buses are equipped with a 1380-mm-wide lift platform at one of the access doorsIn the interior 50 passengers can be comfortably seated on Inter-Star-Eco seats.The twelve Intouro buses are powered by the OM 936 BlueEfficiency Power engine delivering 220 kW.
The high-floor Intouro bus is specifically configured for inter-city and regular school bus service, as well as company on-site transport. With over 6000 units sold to date, this bus series has proved very successful in inter-city operations, and is particularly valued by customers who attach great importance to an outstanding price/performance ratio. The Intouro is produced at the ultra-modern plant in Hosdere near Istanbul, by the Turkish Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Türk A.S.
Mercedes-Benz and ICOM have been collaborating in the bus and coach segment since 1998. In the past 15 years the company has ordered a total of 1000 buses and coaches. ICOM's fleet today comprises more than 700 Mercedes-Benz Intouro buses. The company also operates 300 Mercedes-Benz trucks for national and international assignments.
