The 2000th Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle was delivered to the fleet of the Czech transport company ICOM Transport in February. The milestone vehicle was presented by Ulrich Bastert, Head of Sales and Marketing for Mercedes Benz Trucks, and Till Oberwörder, Head of Sales at Daimler Buses, and accepted by Zdenek Kratchovil, President of ICOM Transport a.s., as well as Chairman of the Board Katerina Kratchovilova.
The milestone bus is one of 68 Mercedes-Benz Intouro buses expanding the ICOM bus fleet. Delivery of this large order will be completed in the first quarter of this year. 100 Mercedes-Benz buses had already been delivered to ICOM at year-end 2013.
"We are very proud that our high-quality Mercedes-Benz vehicles are contributing to the commercial success of ICOM and helping to provide efficient, competitive haulage and transport services," said Till Oberwörder at the presentation ceremony.
The milestone bus is 12.14 m long, has seating for 50 passengers and standing for 31, and is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 926 LA six-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 7.2 l, output of 210 kW (286 hp),
maximum torque of 1120 Nm and featuring BlueTec® technology.
"ICOM attaches huge importance to environmental protection," stressed Zdenek Kratchovil in his speech, and went on to say: "The blue and white in our company's logo are symbols of our commitment to conserving our blue planet and keeping it clean. Our average fuel consumption dropped by nearly three litres per 100 km in the period from 2008 to 2013. By buying new, environmentally responsible, low-consumption vehicles we have been able to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides, greenhouse gases and particulate matter by up to 500 t per year."
