Almost to the day that the Euro VI emissions standard became compulsory for the first time, a hand-over ceremony took place today at which Mercedes-Benz presented its 1000th Citaro already to feature Euro VI emissions technology to a customer. Ralf Steinmetz, Managing Director of the Darmstadt-based transportation company HEAG mobiBus took delivery of the urban bus from Ulrich Piotrowski, Head of Sales, Mercedes-Benz Bus and Coach unit, Western Region, in the Bus & Coach New Vehicle Center (ONC) in Mannheim.
Daimler Buses had already put its first series-production Euro VI-compliant urban buses on the road back in 2012. "Thanks to our early introduction of Euro VI buses – long before the competition – Daimler Buses has been able to strengthen its market position and to win a series of major orders across Europe. With these vehicles, transport operators are able to run environmentally friendly and economic regular route services across sizeable networks," commented Hartmut Schick, Head of Daimler Buses.
