Belgian regional public transport operator Maatschappij voor het Intercommunaal Vervoer te Brussel (MIVB) modernises its vehicle fleet and puts its trust in buses from Mercedes-Benz. 172 Citaro Euro VI buses, of which 93 are solo vehicles and 79 are articulated buses, will be delivered. MIVB will receive the first vehicles in December 2013.
MIVB operates subway, street car and bus lines in the Brussels metro area. MIVB was particularly sold on the total cost of ownership of the Citaro and consequently on the profitability of the buses as well as on their environmental friendliness thanks to the use of Euro VI engines.
"MIVB has a reliable partner in Daimler Buses at its side. We are delighted about the trust in our high-quality, clean, safe and reliable vehicles", said Till Oberwörder, Head of Marketing, Sales and After-Sales Daimler Buses.
The Mercedes-Benz buses deliver convincing arguments not only when it comes to comfort and safety, but also in the area of efficiency and sustainability. The Mercedes-Benz Citaro Euro VI, which won the title of "Bus of the Year 2013“ by beating strong hybrid competition, operates significantly more economical and quiet thanks to lower engine speeds and optimised noise insulation.
