The Citaro FuelCELL-Hybrid has won the environmental prize for public local transport, the so-called EBUS award, in the category for fuel-cell-driven buses. Roman Biondi, Brand Spokesman for Mercedes-Benz Bus and Coach unit EvoBus GmbH, and Ulrich Piotrowski, Market Launch Manager for Mercedes-Benz Hybrid Buses EvoBus GmbH, received the award in Cologne on 28 September 2012 from Prof. Ralph Pütz of the Landshut Technical College, with Rainer Bomba, Secretary of State in the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs in attendance.
Under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Transport, Building and Urban Affairs, Dr. Peter Ramsauer, the Forum for Transport and Logistics e.V. invited entries for the public local transport environmental award - the EBUS Award - for the first time ever this year. "The EBUS Award honours the efforts made to date to introduce electrically-powered buses in public local transport and is intended to act as an incentive for all those working in this area to continue to develop further innovations," explained Prof. Adolf Müller-Hellmann, Chairman of the Forum for Transport and Logistics in a speech at the award ceremony.
