Attractive enhancements to the current model range just go to underline the attractiveness of the Citaro family. The Citaro G articulated bus, for example, is now available with the compact, horizontally-installed six-cylinder in-line OM 936 h engine. The 7.7 l displacement engine has 260 kW (354 hp) output and a maximum torque of 1400 Nm.
This new engine version is representative for the Citaro high-tech low-floor bus: the Power Boost System (PBS) uses compressed-air injection to accelerate torque build-up at lower engine speeds. As a result, maximum torque is available much sooner. Although this process takes no more than a second, it gives the compact engine the acceleration characteristics of a much larger cousin.
The main advantage of the new drive system combination: thanks to the low engine weight and small installation volume required, the Citaro G with the new engine variant can carry up to eight more passengers. The Citaro G also benefits from the new and improved ATC (Articulation Turntable Controller). What's more, the vehicle on show is equipped with a new generation of electronics. This is evidenced by the new, even larger and more informative colour display in the instrument panel as well as from the new control panel for heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
